How it started...

Dr. Cheyenne was up-sizing her daughter's closet and separating the clothing into piles - donate, sell, trash (because inevitably some items get totally destroyed, right?) As a mother who, much like many other mothers, received most of her baby's clothes as hand-me-downs and donations, there is a sense of guilt in deciding to sell those same clothes to others, isn't there? Thus, the idea of The Empowered Closet was born.Dr. Cheyenne owns a prenatal, pediatric chiropractic office in Denison, TX, and as a birth doula, she was already heavily involved in the birth community in Texoma. Utilizing her social media platforms, she reached out to the community in search of help to bring this idea to life! Facebook brought Dr. Cheyenne and community collaborator, Cindy Hooper, together; and these two ladies have embarked on a passion-filled mission of providing necessities to mothers in need to care for themselves and their babies during pregnancy, postpartum, and early childhood. We look forward to growing as a charity organization and helping the mothers and children of the Texoma community! With YOUR time and donations, we can make those dreams come true. Explore our website to learn more about how to donate, volunteer, receive assistance, and so much more!

Partnering With Our Community

We would love to meet local businesses that we can collaborate with. We are open to discussing ways that we can support each other for the good of our community, so if you have an idea, let us know!We are looking for:
- ongoing supportive partners that can keep a small donation box & Baby Bottle coin collector onsite. We want to make it easy for those wanting to support through donations so we’d like to offer different locations that would make it convenient. It would also help spread the word for those that don’t know about us.
- Places that can dedicate a percentage of daily sales towards our mission or that will match donated funds.- Creative fundraising ideas & events. We’d love to find places that can help us raise funds while we apply for grants & other funding that can help sustain our mission long term.- Local business that can make in-kind donations (Dr.Cheyenne DC is open to trading her chiropractic services.) It would help us tremendously as we are operating entirely from donations & need larger funding to go towards a larger space.Community Partners will be listed on our website with direct link to company website. We can post a monthly advertisement for businesses on our social media.Community Sponsorships will be listed on our website with direct link, if applicable. This is available for those wanting to support us with a monetary donation. It can be one-time or recurring. Donors may choose a specific project or area to use funding. We would like to collaborate with local first responders, crisis centers, shelters & other organizations that work with people that are faced with an emergency or crisis that involve children. We would like to be able to help those most vulnerable & needing immediate assistance with clothing, diapers, food etc. Whether it’s calling us directly in an emergency or passing our information, we would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss the best way to be of service. If you are interested in collaborating with us, please fill ouit the form below. We are excited to see what amazing things we can do for our community, with our community!

About Us

Mission

The Empowered Closet is committed to offering comprehensive support to pregnant women and mothers with small children, recognizing their unique challenges and needs. Through the provision of essential items such as clothing, diapers, wipes, and food, we aim to alleviate the financial burden often associated with motherhood and enable women to focus on nurturing their families. Our mission
is to empower mothers and children by ensuring they have access to basic necessities required for their well-being, promoting a sense of dignity and confidence in their journey through life.

Vision

We envision a society where every pregnant woman and mother feels valued, supported, and equipped to navigate the joys and challenges of motherhood. Our vision is to cultivate a community where no mother or child are left behind, and access to essential resources like diapers, wipes, and food is a universal right rather than a privilege. By fostering partnerships, advocating for systemic change, and providing tangible support, we aspire to create a future where every family has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. Together, we can build a world where the journey of motherhood is characterized by empowerment, resilience, and solidarity.

Meet the Team

Dr. Cheyenne graduated from Parker University in August 2021, where she completed both her Masters degree in Neuroscience and her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. The birth of her son introduced her to the birth world, and now she is also a practicing birth doula! She balances being a mother of two, a wife, and a business owner, and enjoys every bit of it. She is the owner of Empowered Chiropractic & Birth Services, the founder of The Empowered Closet, and currently manages its events and social media pages.

Cindy Hooper's journey from the bustling innovation hub of Silicon Valley to her new life in Texas is a story of resilience, transformation, and empowerment. Born and raised in the heart of Northern California's Bay Area, Cindy's early life was steeped in the region's dynamic blend of culture and innovation. Her academic pursuits led her to focus on Early Childhood Education, a field where she not only found her passion but also excelled, graduating on the Dean's List from USCI in 2014. This achievement marked the beginning of what promised to be a fulfilling career, harnessing her talents and dedication to make a difference in the lives of children.Cindy's professional journey took her into the realms of administrative management and business development, areas where her analytical skills and creative thinking allowed her to thrive. She demonstrated a keen ability to navigate the complexities of business operations, coupled with a natural inclination towards fostering growth and implementing efficient strategies. Her career trajectory seemed on an upward curve, showcasing her potential to achieve significant professional success. However, life's unpredictable nature presented Cindy with challenges that would test her strength and resilience. In 2019, she found herself in an abusive relationship that ultimately left her and her younger son without a home. The ensuing two years were fraught with hardships as Cindy sought support from family and domestic violence shelters, only to find that these resources often fell short of providing the help she desperately needed. Faced with systemic gaps and a lack of adequate assistance, Cindy struggled to secure a stable and safe environment for her family. In May 2021, driven by a deep-seated determination to forge a better life for her son and herself, Cindy made a pivotal decision. Embracing a leap of faith, she accepted the offer of a long-time friend and relocated to Texas. This move marked a significant turning point, offering Cindy and her son the chance to start anew away from the shadows of their past. In Texas, Cindy found the stability and community support that had eluded her, enabling her to rebuild a secure and nurturing home where her son could thrive.Amidst this period of rebuilding and growth, she met her husband & got married in November 2022. In March 2023, she embarked on a new venture that combined her entrepreneurial spirit with her personal journey of empowerment. She partnered with Dr. Cheyenne to launch The Empowered Closet, an initiative aimed at supporting others who have faced similar challenges. This project reflects Cindy's resilience, her commitment to helping others, and her ability to transform adversity into action.
